There is a deep sense of dependence on God expressed in “Breathe,” a worship song performed by House of Worship, featuring Kari Jobe, Jenn Johnson and Brian Johnson. Written by Marie Barnett, the song uses the simple but powerful images of air and daily bread to describe how essential God’s presence and Word are to the believer’s life. Its central message is that just as the body needs air to survive, the soul needs God’s presence to live and grow.
Originally written as a modern worship anthem, “Breathe” receives a fresh presentation through the House of Worship project, which brings together voices associated with some of the most influential worship global songs of recent generations. The lyrics express a heartfelt longing for deeper intimacy with God, acknowledging that life without Him is incomplete. Through its prayerful message, the song invites listeners to recognise their need for God’s presence and develop a closer relationship with Him.
