Agbara Nla Mount Zion Movie 2026
More than three decades after Agbara Nla became a familiar title among Nigerian Christian film audiences, the classic is returning in a new cinematic form. Agbara Nla: The Return, a modern remake of the 1993 production created by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas nationwide on October 1, 2026.
The original Agbara Nla, also known as The Ultimate Power in its English version, told the story of Muwonleru, a village troubled by forces of darkness and their earthly representative, Isawuru. The film explored spiritual warfare, faith, prayer and evangelism, themes that helped establish it as one of the notable productions of Nigeria’s early Christian film movement. Mount Zion’s own archive identifies Mike Bamiloye and Gloria Bamiloye as directors of the original production.
The new production brings that familiar story into a contemporary cinema setting. Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua “JayMikee” Bamiloye are directing the remake, while Mike Bamiloye returns as Isawuru. The cast also includes Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Bamiloye as Kola and Aanu Kolade-Abiodun as Bose. The film is a collaboration between Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits, with Blue Pictures Distribution handling its nationwide theatrical release.
From a 1993 Classic to a New Generation
Part of the interest surrounding Agbara Nla: The Return comes from the connection between the original filmmaker and the new generation now taking the story forward. Mike Bamiloye’s return as Isawuru gives the remake a direct link to the production that audiences remember, while his sons take on major creative responsibilities behind the new version.
The original was produced in an era when Christian films reached many Nigerian households through television and home video. This time, the story is being presented as a nationwide theatrical release, giving longtime viewers an opportunity to revisit a familiar story while introducing Agbara Nla to people who may never have seen the 1993 production.
With the official trailer already released, attention is now turning to the October cinema premiere. Agbara Nla: The Return is scheduled to open nationwide on October 1, 2026, bringing a well-known chapter of Nigerian Christian filmmaking back to the big screen.
