African worship music singer and songwriter Nothando Hlophe has dishes out a glorious melody with the titled5 “Methodist Medley”. The single is off her new album “A New Dawn”.
I love telling people the extent to which Christian music has impacted many communities and life in Nigeria. Let me give another instance, and this should clear the doubt of the doubting Thomas. I live in a community that is largely Muslim. There is this woman staying in the other flat in my compound. One day, when I was in my own apartment, I overheard her listening to and singing a popular gospel song, “Who You Say I Am” by Hillsong Worship. I was shocked and surprised. To me, this song is not just an ordinary song, and I began to wonder if she actually understood what this song is all about. I know that Muslims don’t believe that someone like Jesus would die for their sins. So, I was left in a state of confusion, and I couldn’t approach her to ask if she actually knew what she was singing. And even yesterday again, I also heard her singing this recently released song, “Oluwatosin.” I heard her saying, “…Oluwatosin, this Jesus that I know is enough for me.” I didn’t hear the Jesus part clearly because I wasn’t expecting her to sing any song. So, in essence, the impact of Christian songs and music can never be overemphasized. Many who are not Christian have been drawn closer to knowing who Jesus really is. Here is another gospel song, and I believe this one too will have a great impact in the lives of others. So, do well to share with many people in your environment. Methodist Medley by Nothando Hlophe
