Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader Nathaniel Bassey has reached a major digital milestone as his official YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, surpasses one billion cumulative views.
Figures from YouTube analytics platform Social Blade showed that the channel had accumulated 1,014,544,577 views and approximately 5.24 million subscribers as of November 1, 2026.
The achievement has been widely reported as a historic moment for African gospel music, with several media outlets describing Bassey as the first African gospel artist to reach the milestone.
The development comes shortly after the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, the online prayer and worship programme founded by the gospel minister in 2017. The programme has grown into an international gathering, attracting Christians from different parts of the world through live worship sessions and recorded broadcasts.
Over the years, Bassey has built a large audience through popular gospel songs such as Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God, alongside his worship and prayer sessions.
